Fitness training does not have to be performed at the gym all the time; especially if you have a very busy schedule or job that keeps you from making a trip to the local health club. Fitness training can be performed at home or on the road for people with hectic schedules and/or do not see the value in a gym membership. Athletes in particular understand that fitness starts at home, even beyond the question of nutrition, and should permeate to every aspect of a person’s life. To attempt fitness training at home, here are a few suggestions.
Multi-Task
To work on the aerobic aspects of fitness training at home, avoid locking yourself into the typical couch potato’s sedentary lifestyle. Instead of simply remaining sprawled on your couch for most of the day, try performing basic chores or activities simultaneously. For example, you could walk, run, or jog in place while you watch television. You can perform sit ups, pushups, and triceps dips as well. You could grab a heavy object and perform some curls. No matter if you are at home or in a hotel room you can get a good workout in.
Exercise DVDs
If you have a budget, consider investing in home exercise fitness training. You can take these DVDs everywhere with you. Beachbody has several popular programs such as P90X, Insanity, and Turbo Fire. P90X provides strength training, cardio, and Yoga. Insanity and Turbo Fire are predominantly cardio, although both also provide strength and flexibility training. If you travel a lot, consider purchasing resistance bands to take with you when you are on the go. Thus, you can perform various weight lifting exercises including modified pull-ups with these bands. Even if you do not travel, these bands are good to use to change up your routines.
Daily Activity Exercise
As mentioned earlier, you can exercise as you perform your daily activities; i.e., simply taking the stairs instead of the lift or escalator. Instead of parking close to your final destination, you could park farther away. Instead of driving to a restaurant nearby, you could instead walk. If the weather is nice outside, you could take a walk through your local park or ride your mountain bike. By getting creative, you could discover more ways to exercise while going about your normal way of life.
Fitness training that is incorporated in many aspects of our daily lives can eventually lead to stronger, more dedicated exercise schedules.
